Superlative Adjectives

Superlative adjectives show the highest or lowest degree of a particular quality in a group (three or more nouns).

Be careful about using double superlatives. Do NOT combine “most/least” with an ~est form.

Incorrect: I am the most smartest person in my family.

Correct: I am the smartest in my family.

Typically, the word “the” is used before the superlative adjective.

You can commonly see this structure: “the” + “superlative adjective” + “noun”

(E.g.) I am the smartest one in our family.

(E.g.) My sister is the healthiest one in her yoga class.

(E.g.) The city building is the most famous building in the neighborhood.
