Compound Nouns
Compound nouns are made up of two or more words. They act as a single unit with a new meaning. Compound nouns can be open which includes a space in between the two words. They can be closed which omits the space in between words. Lastly, they can be hyphenated.
Compound nouns can be formed by combining words from different parts of speech. You can see variations like: noun + noun, adjective + noun, verb + noun, verb + adverb, and adverb + noun.
